The economy and social development of the grass industry belongs to the whole structure of the grass science, the third interface. The research object not only focuses on the production, circulation, distribution and consumption under certain conditions. It is the economic theory and management decision-making problem related to the social economy and the change of resources and environment. Its application nature determines its research methods, emphasizing the combination of theoretical analysis and empirical research, qualitative analysis and quantitative research. With the intersection of traditional economics and management, agronomy, resource and environmental economics, academics and geographic information systems, the research of the economy and social development of the grass industry aims at the transformation of agricultural structure, food safety, the potential of grassland agricultural production, and the management of enterprises. By means of traditional economics and management, it intersects with agricultural science, resources and environmental economics, ecology, and geographic information system.

The objectives of the Prataculture System Analysis and Social Development Research Institute are to raise the level of research on the strategy of the development of the grass industry in China, build a first-class research platform for think tanks, and advance the reform of the agricultural structure and the construction of ecological civilization. With the leading talents training, it provides the field basis of grass forward-looking, strategic, overall, advisory and decision-making.

The Prataculture System Analysis and Social Development Research Institute with 11 members, has received 10 state-level scientific research projects, published 7 monographs, and more than 100 papers.

The Prataculture System Analysis and Social Development Research Institute is affiliated to the Secretariat of the China Grass Industry Development Strategy Research Center and the Secretariat of the Grass Association Agricultural Ethics Committee. The China Grass Industry Development Strategy Research Center is jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Lanzhou University. The China Grass Industry Development Strategy Research Center mainly undertakes research projects on the development strategy of the grass industry and related fields to study the overall design of the country’s grass industry, the development route and phase planning, commits to building a consulting platform of grass industry in China.
