The State Key Laboratory of Grassland Agro-ecosystem is the only national laboratory in the grassland science field in China, the laboratory carries the important task of targeting, leading the front of grass science and ecological research, it also faces the major scientific and technological strategic needs of the sustainable development of the country’s agriculture and animal husbandry and the construction of ecological civilization. The State Key Laboratory of Grassland Agro-ecosystem located in the underdeveloped area in the west, and the greatest pressure the laboratory faced is the serious brain drain and the difficulty of talent introduction. Therefore, the laboratory has intensified the cultivation of young talents while vigorous introducing talents.

   After investigating other key laboratories in related fields, convening young teachers from key laboratories and thorough discussion, the State Key Laboratory of Grassland Agro-ecosystem established the “Youth Talent” training program, the program aims to train a group of young talents with noble morality, exquisite workmanship, outstanding quality, strong innovation ability, international competitiveness and great development potential, it encourages them based on innovation, precision force, actively face the national strategy and social needs, stimulate and exert the potential of outstanding young talents in building worlds-class universities and first-class disciplines. Through nurturing, a large number of outstanding young and middle-aged subjects and academic leaders have influential at home and abroad has emerged, a batch of original and iconic scientific research results has been produced, and they can push the improvement of laboratory scientific and technological innovation ability. They also support the school’s constructions of “double first-class” and realize the goal of talent construction of “nearly pleasing”. The Youth Talent Development Program has Class A and Class B projects.

The replies review meeting “Youth Talent Cultivation Program” of the State Key Laboratory of Grassland Agro-ecosystem was held in the conference room on the second floor of Biye Building on the afternoon of August 20th. The review included communication review and on-site reply. The review expert consisted of 14 people in charge of the laboratory, members of the academic committee working in Lanzhou, and experts from other schools. Nine applicants reported on their own research work and the research work to be carried out during the year.

  The review experts listened to the reports of the various applicants carefully, and they conducted an objective and impartial evaluation and provided valuable opinions on the problems that each reporter had when applying for Outstanding Youth and Excellent Youth. Comprehensive communication review and defense, they selected a Class A to fund one and a Class B plan to fund two projects.
