To strengthen the overall planning and guidance on the animal nutrition and fodder in China, guide grand coalition, large-scale cooperation and shared benefits for all, systematicallydevelop groundwork including fodder nutritive value database development and the rating of nutritional requirements of animals, accelerate the promotion of the technical system of precise fodder formula, promote the cost-saving and quality and efficiency improvement of the fodder and breeding industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs decided to establish the National Steering Committee on Animal Nutrition. A total of 38 persons are selected as the first batch of members of the National Steering Committee on Animal Nutrition. Academician Li Defa assumes the post as the Chairman. Academician Mai Kangsen, Academician Yin Yulong and Academician Yao Bin are vice chairmen. Qiao Shiyan, Professor of China Agricultural University assumes the post as secretary general, and the Secretariat was set in China Agricultural University. Branches are planned to be set up by the Committee according to the cultivated animal varieties, with committee members familiar with relevant fields taking charge of the preparation. The Committee will establish dynamic supplement and exiting mechanisms to recruit competent experts and scholars who are willing to participate in the career of animal nutrition and fodder. Professor Li Fadi of our College was selected in the first batch of the Committee.
