On May 14 to 19, 2023, the 25th International Grassland Congress, hosted by the University of Kentucky, was held in Covington, Kentucky, the United States. The theme was grassland for soil, animal and human health. Over 600 participants from 15 countries attended the congress, including scientific and technological researchers engaged in grassland science and related disciplines, those from government agencies and enterprises, and farmers and herdsmen in front-line production. Grassland Research Editor Wu Yanpei attended the whole session and organized an exhibition booth for journal publicity.

On May 18, 2023, the Editorial Board invited Professor Vivien Allen of Texas Tech University, Dr. John Caradus, fellow of Royal Society Te Apārangi of New Zealand, and Lynn E. Sollenberger of University of Florida, Professor Jennifer MacAdam of Utah State University, Professor Wang Zengyu of Qingdao Agricultural University, Professor He Jinsheng, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Grass Seed Innovation and Grassland Agro-ecosystems, Lanzhou University, Professor Li Chunjie, Dean, and Professor Liu Zhipeng, Vice Dean of College of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology, Lanzhou University, and Associate Researcher Xia Chao held a symposium in the form of breakfast meeting with the Editorial Board. The participants affirmed and congratulated the achievements of the journal since its inception, and proposed many positive suggestions on further promoting the rapid development of the journal.

During the congress, Ms. Wu Yanpei communicated with the authors of the journal and peer journal editors of Crop Science and Grass and Forage Science. She too made publicity at the journal booth. The chairman of the congress, Professor Ray Smith of the University of Kentucky, visited the booth to understand the development of the journal. During the exhibition, teachers from College of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology of Lanzhou University also assisted in promoting the journal by introducing it to booth visitors and distributing souvenirs.

At the congress, Associate Editor He Jinsheng gave an invited speech titled “Biodiversity and ecosystem functioning under climate change in alpine grasslands”, and editorial board members John Caradus, Lynn E. Sollenberger and Jennifer MacAdam gave parallel-session reports. Advisor Vivien Allen received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
