EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

2007.12-2011.11: Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Plant Breeding, Department Primary Industries and Latrobe University, Australia. Supervisor: Professor German Spangenberg

2003.9-2007.11: Doctor of Agriculture, Grass Science, College of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou City, China. Supervisor: Professor Zhibiao Nan

1999-2003.6: Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology). College of Life Science, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou City, China.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

2013.11– Present: Association professor in College of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology, Lanzhou University, China. I am conducting research about Chinese native grass and endophyte including novel endophyte exploring, endophyte-grass associations evaluation using different technology.

2011.11-2012.3: Research scientist in Victorian AgriBiosciences Centre, Department primary industries. I was in charge the project about tall fescue-endophyte association genotyping using SSR molecular markers and metabolites profiling using LC-MS which give me full confidence to apply my experience and knowledge to research projects in a reliable and highly professional manner.

2007.11-2011.11: PhD Candidate in Victorian AgriBiosciences Centre, Department primary industries and La Trobe University. The project is “Designer Endophyte-Grass Associations”.  During the competition of the project, I have gained extensive knowledge of plant genetics, plant molecular biology and plant biochemistry. I have screened perennial ryegrass plant and fungi (endophyte) with various types of genotyping by SSR (short sequence repeat) molecular markers using high-throughput techniques. I have investigated the perA gene expression by real time qPCR to examine the endophyte colonization in perennial ryegrass host plants. I have evaluated secondary metabolite using LC–MS-MS methods and analysis alkaloid biosynthesis pathway using accurate mass and MSn fragmentation data.

2003.09-2007.11: PhD Candidate in Grass Science, College of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology, Lanzhou University, China. During this project, I have completed research about interactions of perennial ryegrass-Neotyphodium lolii-plant pathogenic fungi in China. I have carried out field experiments related to plant pathogenic fungi investigation followed by isolation and identification by visual information like culture colonel and spore growth observation. To understand endophytes’ role in the resistance or susceptibility of perennial ryegrass host to several fungal pathogens, I have planted, inoculated and scored perennial ryegrass plants for their phenotype response to pathogens infection under control environment or field. I also extracted and analysis perennial ryegrass plants protein expression and alkaloids response to pathogens infection by HPLC.

2004.11-2005.3 Visiting scientist at Massey University, New Zealand. The project was “Comparison of the LpsA gene from the ergovaline biosynthetic pathway of Neotyphodium lolii in AR1 and Lp19”.
