The School of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology (CPAST) at Lanzhou University originated from the Gansu Grassland Ecological Research Institute (GGERI) founded in 1981 by Professor Jizhou Ren, who is an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. The name of “Grassland Ecological Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences” also came to use since May 2001.
